I’m Kati Moody—and this project has been years in the making.
As a former managing editor of the Levelland News-Press, a journalism instructor, and a lifelong advocate for rural storytelling, I’ve spent the better part of two decades asking one question:What would happen if we built a local newsroom that actually centered people—both the readers and the reporters?
The West Texas Wire is the answer to that question. This site is more than a blog or news feed—it’s a new kind of media platform. One designed for us. For the doers, the dreamers, the deeply rooted and the recently returned. For everyone who wants to know what’s happening in our corner of the world—and why it matters.
This site is audience-driven. That means you’ll find features, voices, and perspectives that reflect your world, not a corporate script.
It’s also a proof of concept. If we can make this work in Levelland, we can make it work anywhere.
So welcome. Whether you’re here for the stories, the strategy, or the spark of something new—there’s a place for you at the Wire.
